Collected here are images of Nashville’s past.
How many do you remember?
I started this project, because it fascinates me to realize how much I’ve forgotten about my surroundings when I was younger. I am a product of the 60’s and 70’s. Right on the cusp of the “boomers”. Most of the really early stuff was being “urban renewaled” before my eyes. The really early stuff is a way to time-travel back to simpler times in middle Tennessee. As time permits, I will attempt to photograph the same area so we can see a before and after comparison.

On behalf of the Prince family, we enjoy surfing through this site for images of what Nashville was when our restaurant first launched. Would love to contribute some family images.

Marty, thank you for this wonderful time capsule of a site 🙂
I forgot to add that I collect old postcards of Nashville and I have some real gems. We’ve torn down some wonderful old places. I suppose I will leave mine to the State Museum someday 🙂
Does anyone have any pictures or information about the old Skatelane rink in Madison? Or does anyone even remember it? It was located next to the Veterans Cemetery. I think it’s used car dealer or garage these days. My wife and I met there 50 years ago this week (July 4th) as 16 and 14 year old teenagers. We’ve been married for 43 years now and that place of course holds an incredible memory for both of us. Anything would be wonderful. Thanks.
